CHARLES  WILSON  TRAWICK, SR.



NEWVILLE…Charles Wilson Trawick, Sr., a resident of Newville, died Monday afternoon, February 11, 2013, at his home. He was 87.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in the Old Center United Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Ball and Reverend Brandon Bures officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Center United Methodist Church Debt Retirement Fund, c/o Chappy Trawick, 4852 County Road 7, Newville, AL 36353, or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.


            Mr. Trawick was a lifelong resident of the Old Center Community of Henry County, son of the late Dan Gordan Trawick and Nellie Gray Price Trawick. He was a 1947 graduate of Abbeville High School. Mr. Trawick served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Company A, 1st Battalion, 179th Regiment, 45th Infantry Division in Rhineland and Central Europe. In August, 2010, he was privileged to travel to Washington, D.C. on the Wiregrass Honor Flight in recognition of being a member of “The Greatest Generation”.  He was retired as the owner of Trawick Ace Hardware in Abbeville. Mr. Trawick was an active member of the Old Center United Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Nell Trawick Martin, and two brothers, Kenneth Trawick and Lafayette Trawick.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-five years, Mary Ezzell Trawick, Newville; four daughters, Sharon Trawick, Newville; Susan Trawick Reynolds (Henry), Abbeville; Starla Trawick Alexander (Jay), Bertha Community; Rosemary Trawick Murphy (Mike), Abbeville; a son, Charles Wilson (Chuck) Trawick, Jr. (Lisa), Newville, a sister, Charlotte Ball (Reverend Ron Ball), Enterprise and Montgomery; a brother, Wayne Trawick (Joann), Phenix City; sisters-in-law, Ann Trawick, Annette Trawick, Rose Ezzell Mobley, Susie Ezzell Atta, Allene Ezzell and Sarah Ezzell; thirteen grandchildren, Adam Alexander (Cindy), Ben Alexander (Crystal), Angie Alexander, Emile Reynolds, Elizabeth Reynolds Daughtry (Michael), Robert Reynolds (Brittney), Jordan Alexander, Amanda Trawick Aultman (Justin), Claudia Trawick, Eliza Jane Trawick, Charles Wilson (Cal) Trawick, III, Michael Murphy (Haydyn Culp), and Molly Murphy Crawford (Cory); and six great-grandchildren, Jack Alexander, B.J. Alexander, Blake Alexander, Sydney Daughtry, Marshall Daughtry, and Charlee Daughtry.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Covenant Hospice, including Sonya Snow and Tasha Tyree, and a special thank you to Jimmie Gilmore, Edwana Hagler, Nina Kincey, Pam Knight, Gary Whitehead, Jack Ryals and Stella Barnes for the loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Trawick during his illness.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Adam Alexander, Ben Alexander, Robert Reynolds, Cal Trawick, Michael Murphy, and Keith Trawick.
