Christine Barnhill Whatley, 96, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Capital Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Dothan, AL on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm CST. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm.


She will be laid to rest at Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, AL. Mrs. Whatley was born on April 13, 1921 to the late Ira David Barnhill & Floy Murphy Barnhill in New Brockton, AL. She married Edwin M. Whatley, Sr. on November 23, 1941 in Chipley, FL, who preceded her in death on June 26, 1994. She graduated high school in Dothan, AL and attended Riley Business College. She worked as a Sales Clerk selling jewelry and was a member of First Baptist Church of Dothan, AL.


Survivors include: a daughter, Martha Alexander of Tallahassee, FL, grandchildren, Brock Alexander of Tallahassee, FL, Benjamin Alexander (Cherie) of Panama City Beach, FL, Edwin M. Whatley III (Sharon) of Hattisburg, MS, Stephen Whatley (Lisa) of Mobile, AL, Matthew Whatley of Fairhope, AL, great-grandchildren, Greg Alexander, Kayla Whatley, Ryan Whatley and Taylor Whatley. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ira & Floy Barnhill, husband, Edwin M. Whatley, Sr., and son Edwin M. Whatley, Jr. and son in law, Charles Alexander, Jr.
