Christine Batayias

Christine Batayias, a resident of Headland, AL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 19, 2020. She was 75 years old.

Funeral services in honor of Christine will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 26, 2020 with Mrs. Ruth Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2 pm.

Ms. Batayias was born on January 17, 1945 in Brunswick, GA to Lambros and Evelyn Batayias and to her birth mother, Belle Bikas. She moved to Donalsonville, GA at an early age and graduated from Seminole County High School in 1963. Ms. Batayias attended Gateway Church in Headland. She helped her Papa, “Jimmy the Greek”, at The Cellar, later at The Greek Steakpit, and was a cashier at Cherokee IGA. Ms. Batayias enjoyed cross word puzzles and organizing bible studies at the senior citizens center. She was a wonderful, loving and friendly person, who will be missed by all who knew her.

Ms. Batayias was preceded in death by her parents, George (Joanna) Mavrikis Batayias, and by Brewster (Mamie) Harrell Faircloth.

Survivors include her son, Richard Dana (Marci) Nichols; her sister, Jeanie (Nickie) Brackin; her 2 nieces, Jennifer and Julie; and several extended family members.
