Clarence Raymond “Ray” Lee, a resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday night, June 24, 2021 at Southeast Health. He was 89.

Memorial services with military honors will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Goss officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. on Sunday prior to service time. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 1899 Metropolitan Pkwy SW, Atlanta, GA 30315. 

Mr. Lee was born January 15, 1932 in Bold Springs, Alabama to J T and Hattie Nichols Lee and grew up in Bold Springs and Birmingham. After joining the National Guard he also served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army at Heartbreak Ridge and was the recipient of the Silver Star. After the war, he played football at Florida State.

In May of 1964, he moved to Dothan and was employed with Western Union for 35 years as a computer technician.  He served as the chief of the Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. Mr. Lee was a member of First Baptist Church of Dothan.

He is predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Grover Lee.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louisa Bruner Lee of Dothan; a son, Mark Lee of Cottonwood; a daughter, Linda Lee Waller (Chuck) of Ashford; three grandchildren, Justin Waller of Ashford, Ashley Waller of Montgomery and Savannah Rae of Dothan; three great-grandchildren, Bryce Waller, Conner Waller and Jonathan Waller; several nieces and nephews.
