Clyde D. Smith, a resident of Dothan died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at his residence. He was 83.


 


Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Reverends Bradley Rushing and Randy Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will receive friends at the church from 9 to 10 A.M. Saturday, July 21, 2012, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Walk Through Bethlehem Program or to Covenant Hospice.


 


Mr. Smith was born in Smithville, GA; and lived in the Phenix City area for many years. He had been a resident of Dothan/Cowarts area for 10 years. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and the Charles Powell Sunday School Class.


 


He is preceded in death by his parents, Mae Wood and Huschel Smith, wives, Willene Smith and Dorothy Smith, and one brother, Ed Smith.


 


Survivors include his wife, Dianne Smith of Dothan; two daughters, Sandra Gordy and husband, Steven of Phenix City, AL; Patricia Hall and her husband, John of Columbus, GA; three sons, Alex (Sonny) Smith and his wife, Marsha of Daphne, AL; Alan Smith and his wife, Patty of Phenix City, AL; Philip Scarborough  of Jackson, MS; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
