Coleene Harper Ellison


 


            Mrs. Coleene Harper Ellison passed away Monday evening, December 12, 2011,


at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center, surrounded by her family.  She was 80.


The family will receive friends at Ward Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday,


December 15, from 5 to 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16, at 2 p.m. at Highland Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Willis and the Rev.


John Bryan officiating.  Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery.  Flowers will be


accepted or memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Highland Park


United Methodist Church.


            Mrs. Ellison was born August 3, 1931, in the Harper Joy Community of Houston


County, and lived in the Dothan area most of her life.  She was retired from the Dothan


Eagle, where she worked in advertising for more than 20 years.  She and her late


husband were charter members of Highland Park United Methodist Church.


            She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Floyd Ellison; her


parents, Moses C. and Robbie Jones Harper; and a granddaughter, Courtney Metcalf.


She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Ellison Metcalf of Dothan, and Loren


Ellison Sellers (Terry) of Dothan; her brother, Max Harper (Dennye) of West Palm


Beach, Florida; two granddaughters, Shellie Miller of Summerdale, Alabama, and


Kristyn Tew (Riley) of Dothan.  She is also survived by four great-granddaughters, Emily


Elizabeth Metcalf of Dothan, Madison Elyse Bright of Summerdale, Hailey Elizabeth


Stewart of Dothan, and Harper Joy Tew of Dothan, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Serving as active pallbearers are Charles Sellers, Earl Sellers, Jerry Jones, Terry


Sellers, Mackey Sellers, and Riley Tew.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the


Faith Hope and Love Sunday School Class of Highland Park United Methodist Church.


Ward Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
