COLUMBIA. . .Connie Holland Thompson, a resident of Columbia, died early Saturday evening, October 7, 2023, at her home. She was 63.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Sidney Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, near Columbia. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Camp Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Sharon Elliott, 13205 County Road 53, Columbia, AL 36319.

            Connie Thompson was raised in the Camp Springs community of Henry County, daughter of the late Gordon Rabon Holland and Nancy Earle Penuel Holland. She was a 1978 graduate of Abbeville Christian Academy and received a B.S. Degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Connie was formerly employed by Early County Hospital in Blakely as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of New Freedom Church in Webb. Connie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gordon and Lora Hasty Holland and George and N E Penuel, and uncle, Kenny Penuel, father-in-law, John E. Thompson and sister-in-law, Debbie Thompson.

            Surviving relatives include her husband, James Daniel “Jimmy” Thompson, cousins, Leigh Ann Chapman and Brad Penuel, an aunt, Ann Shelley Penuel, mother-in-law, Jane Thompson, sister-in-law, Alice Whitman (Wayne), brothers-in-law, Tim Thompson and Joe Thompson (Paula), a cousin, Olice “Buddy” Carter, and Connie’s adopted parents, Doyle and Lillian Elliott, numerous nieces and nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Harnage Elliott, Joe Hall, Shawn Meyers, Kenny Woodham, William Cleveland and Michael Marston.
