NEWVILLE. . .Connie Mack  Parrish, a resident of Newville, died Saturday, February 1, 2020, in a Dothan hospital. He was 84.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 3, 2020, in the Concord Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Wyatt and Chaplain (Colonel, U. S. Army, Retired) James “Dusty” Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, 1302 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, AL 36301 or to the Judson Baptist Ministry Centers, 532 Ozark Road, Abbeville, AL 36310.

Mr. Parrish was born and reared near Newville, son of the late Willie Wise Parrish and Tency Peacock Parrish. He was a 1952 graduate of Newville High School and lived in the Concord community all his adult life. Mr. Parrish was an active member of the Concord Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, taught the Men’s Sunday School Class and was also a participant in all church activities for the past sixty two years. He was a member of the Wiregrass Community Choir. Mr. Parrish retired from the Headland Post Office as a City Letter Carrier after approximately forty years employment. After retirement, he volunteered at the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home and Judson Ministry Centers. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Cash and three brothers, Raymond Parrish, L. R. Parrish and Bill Parrish.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Janara Beasley Parrish; a daughter, Sarah Parrish Egbert (Daniel), Dothan; a son, John Parrish, Madison, AL; and a special daughter in love, Selina Parrish, Huntsville, AL; a sister, Mernette Bayne, Headland; a brother, Harold Parrish (Yvenette), Birmingham; five grandchildren, Emily Parrish Pitts (Tim), Adam Parrish (Laura), Tyler Egbert, Kathleen Egbert and Jared Egbert (Brea Lynch); a great-grandson, Will Pitts, on the way.
