CW5 George W. Foley (U.S. Army Ret), 64, of Enterprise passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.


Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.


Mr. Foley was born July 27, 1948 in El Paso, TX. He entered the U.S. Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam as an AH-1 Cobra pilot and other multiple assignments overseas. He retired as a CW5 in 1998 and was the first Warrant Officer to serve as a Foreign Exchange Officer. Mr. Foley later was employed with civil service at Ft. Rucker for 13 years. He was an Aviation Project Officer and contact officer for the Foreign Liaisons and a member of the Army Aviation Association of America.


Survivors include his wife Shellye Hart Foley of Enterprise, AL; a son Christopher William (Danielle) Foley of Ft. Campbell, KY; a daughter Kathleen Glynn Foley of Enterprise, AL; a brother James E. Foley; sisters, JoAnn Fontenot and Evelyn Arabie all of Moss Bluff, LA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
