CW5 (Ret) Melvin Dennis Revert, of Enterprise, AL passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at his home. He was 86.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 18, 2024 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Dr. Rodger Richards and Rev. Karl Hudson officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory.

Melvin was born September 15, 1937 in Forgan, Oklahoma to Melvin Grover Revert and Thelma Maxine Raff Revert. He graduated from Forgan High School in 1955. Melvin worked as a mason and brick layer from 1955 – 1958.

Melvin joined the US Army in 1958. After joining the Army, Mr. Revert was stationed in Germany until he was promoted to Staff Sergeant E6. In 1963, he attended Flight School and graduated in 1964. Mr. Revert served in Germany, Italy, Korea and Vietnam. After serving in the US Army for 37 years, 3 months and 28 days, Mr. Revert retired in 1995 with the rank of CW5. Because of his location at the time, he was the first to receive the rank of CW5 in the US Army. Mr. Revert received numerous decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons. Among them were: Meritorious Service Medal 3^rd Award, Air Medal 36^th Award, Army Commendations Medal 4^th Award, Army Good Conduct Medal 2^nd Award, Master Army Aviator Badge, and the one of which he was proudest, The Army Legion of Merit Award.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children Helga M.M. Revert; sons, Scott K.A. Revert and Melvin Dennis Revert; brother William Darrell Revert and sister Sharon Florine Hile.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Kate Martin Revert, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Isabel A.P. McCallum (Robert), Concord, NC; daughter-in-law, Teresa Revert, Enterprise, AL; grandson, Alex Fritz (Angela), Fayetteville, GA; two granddaughters, Brianna Rhodes (Al), Abbeville, AL; Brittnie Revert (Sam), Andalusia, AL; six great grandchildren, Elias, Charlotte, Gus, Theo and Jonathan Fritz, Fayetteville, GA and Adler Revert, Andalusia, AL; two bonus sons, Jim Martin, Nashville, TN; David Martin (Charlotte), Enterprise, AL; bonus grandchildren, Brandon Powers, Dripping Springs, TX; Mark Martin (Katie), Enterprise, Al, Jessica Rodriquez (Anthony), Enterprise, Al; Chuck O’Neal Hood (Kaitlyn), Elba, Al; bonus great-grandchildren, Brylee Hood , Joshua Rodriquez, Cooper Hood and Camden Hood; sister-in-law, Linda Revert, The Villages, FL.
