Darrell Ben Tucker

A celebration of Ben’s life will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 20, 2023, in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Sunset from 6-8pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

Darrell Ben Tucker, affectionately known as Ben, embarked on his final journey on July 14, 2023, in Taylor, Alabama. Born on November 20, 1961, in Dragerton, Utah, Ben lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his faith in the Savior Jesus Christ and to his family.

Ben was a loving and dedicated husband to his beloved wife Julie, being sealed together for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Ben sought to keep the Savior at the center of their lives together.

He was a beacon of light in the lives of his children: Michael (Emily), Mindy (Spencer) Evenhuis, Chris (Katie), Tim (Melanie), Dustin (Mercedes), Shealyn (Michael) Jensen, and Trevon (Allison) Tucker. He was a doting grandfather to his 17 grandchildren, a loyal son to his mother, Jolene Ericson Tucker, and a supportive brother to Scott (Lynda) Tucker, Rod (Lorie) Tucker, and sister, Susie (Roger) Ellis. Ben also held a special place in the hearts of his numerous nieces and nephews. Ben is preceded in death by his father William Van Tucker.

Ben attended high school in Magna, Utah, at Cyprus High School. His work ethic and dedication led him to a successful career in the ice cream industry, where he served as a Foreman at Dreyer’s Ice Cream. His journey took him to Alameda, California, and later to Dothan, Alabama, in 2019, where he worked for Oncology Supply. At the time of his passing, he was employed with MAU as the safety controller for Michelin.

Ben was a man of many passions. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in a wide variety of sports. He often coached his children, and instilled in them the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance both in sports and in life. He was a lover of the outdoors, enjoying fishing, kayaking, and camping. Ben loved animals and cherished pets, including his dogs.

He was a handyman, a jokester, a teacher of values, and above all, a man who loved to help others. With Ben, everyone was a friend, and nobody was a stranger for long.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ben served in numerous callings and capacities. Above all, he served faithfully as a loving husband and father in his home.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf proclaimed that “God’s greatest reward goes to those who serve without expectation of reward. It goes to those who serve without fanfare; those who quietly go about seeking ways to help others; those who minister to others simply because they love God and God's children.” This encapsulates the essence of Ben’s life. He was a man who was always ready to lend a helping hand, to share a kind word, or to make someone laugh. He was generous in every sense of the word, always ready to give of himself for the happiness and well-being of others. Ben’s life of selfless service to others stands as a testament to his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

Ben’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all those who were blessed to know him, and his memory will continue to inspire and motivate us to live our lives with compassion, generosity, and a deep sense of purpose.

As we remember Ben, let us celebrate his life and honor his memory by living our lives with the same faith, generosity, and selflessness that he demonstrated throughout his life. Let us strive to shine the light of the Savior in the lives of others, just as Ben was in ours. His life reminds us that we are not defined by the length of our life, but by the depth of our lives. Ben, indeed, lived his years to the fullest.

A celebration of Ben’s life will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 20, 2023, in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Sunset from 6-8pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
