WICKSBURG, ALABAMA…Daunice Larry “Don” Starling, a resident of Wicksburg, died early Friday morning, December 1, 2023, in Bonifay, Florida. He was 76.
A memorial visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel.
Don Starling was born and reared in Wicksburg, son of the late Martin Luther Starling and Jimmie Lou Wilson Starling. He was a graduate of Wicksburg High School. In earlier years, Don lived in Headland, but lived in Wicksburg most of his lifetime. Don formerly owned and operated Pitt Stop Bar B Que in Wicksburg and also Spanish Acres Gulf in Kinsey. He is preceded in death by a brother, Craig Starling and a son-in-law, Alan Devier.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Debra Watkins Starling, Dothan; daughters, Kristie Starling Holman (David), Summerville, SC; and Kimberly Starling Devier, Goose Creek, SC; step-children, Drew Key (Kellie), Headland; Drake Key (Suzanne), Dothan; and Denton Key, Nashville, TN; a sister, Kaye McCord (Van), Greenville, SC; a brother, Gary Starling, Wicksburg; grandchildren, Jordan Werner (Dr. Ben Werner), Joshua Platt and Logan Devier; step-grandchildren, Emilia Key and Brantley Platt; one great-grandchild, Pierce Werner.
