Mr. David Godwin of the Hodgesville Community passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born July 28, 1937 in Dothan to the late Grady Angus and Bessie Locke Godwin, Mr. Godwin was a member of Hodgesville Baptist Church. He served his country as a member of the 115^th AC & W Squadron with the Alabama Air National Guard. He retired as a trainmaster after 36 years with Chattahoochee Industrial Railroad. After his retirement, he continued to enjoy the outdoors on his farm with his many farm animals.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Reeves.

Survivors include his wife, Neva Dale Godwin; his daughters, Delane Godwin Duncan (Bob) of Pinson, AL and Shellie Darenee Godwin Hartigan (Eric) of Tallahassee, FL; his son, Duane Godwin (Cecelia) of Dothan; a sister, Barbara Norris (Chester) of Tuscaloosa, AL; eight grandchildren, Justin (Michelle) Godwin, Danielle (Zack) Kennedy, Kimberly Davis, Maranda (Adam) Dykes, Shelby (Jayron) Davis, Trevor Davis, Peyton Hartigan, and Darby Hartigan; and eight great-grandchildren, Madison, Mason and Myrah Davis, Kaylee and Kailyn Green, Addison Godwin, and Charleigh and Bailey Dykes; numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Hodgesville Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Bristow officiating. Burial will follow in Hodgesville Baptist Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM, Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions to the Hodgesville Baptist Church Building Fund, 11190 South County Road 33, Dothan, AL  36301.
