David Leon Morales, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at his residence. He was 74.

Funeral services will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny White officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-4 pm.

Mr. Morales was born on May 9, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois and lived there the early years of his life. He joined the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Rucker in 1963 where he served for 4 years on active duty. He then returned to Chicago, Illinois and received his BS Degree in Social Work from George William College. He was employed with the City of Chicago as a probation officer. Mr. Morales joined the Army National Guard and would serve until his retirement. Mr. Morales returned to Dothan where he met his wife, Wanda Hamilton Morales, and they were married in 1981. Together they moved to Athens, GA where he would receive his master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. Mr. Morales was a member of the Knights of Columbus. David will be missed terribly by his family but will always be remembered for his heart for this community.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Wanda Morales; his son, David Mitchell Morales; his daughter, Nanci Bailey; his granddaughter, Taylor Reese Rollins; his brothers, Danny Morales of Vallejo, CA, Billy Morales of Phyllis, KY, and Charlie Morales of Headland, AL; his sisters, Alice Vasko, Sana Reyes, Linda Skerrett, Lana Gonzales, and Debbie Reyes all of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
