Dean Monroe Craig, age 85, of Enterprise,  AL, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Westside Terrace in Dothan, Alabama.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M, Thursday, December 9, 2021 at First Baptist Church with Chaplain Sonny Moore officiating.  All services will conclude at the church.  The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 A.M.

Dean was born in Canfield, Ohio, but his family relocated to Orlando, Florida when Dean was a freshman in high school.  He was an outstanding basketball player in high school, and won MVP for all of Orange County, FL, when he was only a junior.  He was also a star basketball player for Troy State University and held scoring records for the school for many years.  Dean taught school and coached basketball, as well as other sports, over a 30+ year career in Florida and Alabama.  He retired from Enterprise State Junior College in 1990.  Dean had many hobbies, but especially loved hunting and fishing, where he spent time with his son, daughter, grandchildren, and many special friends and family, enjoying the outdoors.  He loved his family, and he got such joy from being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  But first, and foremost, Dean loved the Lord, and loved serving others and being a part of First Baptist Church, Enterprise.


Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Jessie Craig; his wife of 49 years, Henri Godrey Craig; his brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Dorothy Craig; his sister, Irene Shiver; his brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, AJ and Jeanette Godrey; Al and Nancy Godfrey; Clint and Betty Kelley; John and Rita Dick.


Survivors include his wife, Margaret Enfinger Craig, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Deana Stone (Greg, deceased) Opelika, AL; son, Scot R. Craig (Robyn) Dothan, AL; step-daughters, Cathy McKenzie (Ray) Dothan, AL; Lisa Denmark (Jeff) Graceville, FL; step-son, Tony Enfinger, Dothan, AL; sister, Alice Spillard (David) Mt. Dora, FL; brother, Russell Craig (Martha) Mt. Verde, FL; grandchildren, Sydni Boyd (Justin); Drew Stone (Leslie); Kendall McFarland (Derek); Chloe Stone; Lindsey Craig; Russell Craig; Danielle Womack (Brandon); Victoria Cowan (Andrew); Trey McNeal (Ginny); Coby McNeal; Brad Nolen; Tanner McKenzie; Adam Parker; Troy Enfinger (Tabitha); Trey Enfinger (Tina); great-grandchildren; Brenn Boyd; Stone Boyd; Timb Stone; Maebry McFarland; Gatlin McFarland; Rylee Rich; Troy Thompson; Braxton Womack; Jade Karis Womack; Lincoln Cowan; Liam Cowan; Chandler McNeal; Ethan Nolen; Brady Nolen; Talon Enfinger; Tucker Enfinger.


Pallbearers are Dean’s grandsons, Russell Craig and Drew Stone, and his sons-in-law, Brandon Womack, Andrew Cowan, Justin Boyd, and Derek McFarland.


Honorary Pallbearers are, Sam Curtis, Jim Grimes, Gerry Davis, and the Joe Talmadge Sunday School Class.
