Debra Elaine Chancey Weldon Fordyce, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. At the age of 63 she lost her long fight with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.


A memorial service will be held 11 am Friday, June 21, 2019 at Post Oak Baptist Church in Ozark, AL (4108 North Union Ave, Ozark, AL 36360.)


Mrs. Fordyce was a 1974 graduate of Carroll High & Charles Henderson High School and a graduate of the 1977 LPN class of Wallace Community College. She went on to get her RN in 1984 at Gasden State University. Mrs. Fordyce had a successful career in nursing and was well respected by peers and employees alike. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.


Mrs. Fordyce was preceded in death by her father, J.B. Chancey and her son, Thomas Richard Weldon.


Survivors include her mother Margaret E Windham Chancey, Ozark; her husband, Timothy C Fordyce, Dothan, Al; her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Darrin Freitag, Dothan, Al; grandchildren Tori and Ava Freitag, Dothan, AL, Thomas Gregory Weldon and Carolyn Weldon, Troy, AL, Anita Elaine “Ellie” Weldon, Tallahassee, Fl, and Richard Louis Heckler, Macon, GA; her great grandchildren, Piper Elaine Weldon, and Parker Reed Weldon, Troy, AL, and Alexander Alika “Xander” Weldon, Tallahassee, Fl; brothers Gary Chancey, Ozark, AL and Greg Chancey, Apalachicola, Fl; and a multitude of extended family and friends also survive. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Debra has requested those monies be sent to Ozark Manor Nursing Home in Ozark, AL to help cover the cost of her mother’s continued stay.
