Dianne Taylor Goodnight, 75, of Hartford, Alabama passed away at her home on July 30, 2021.


Visitation services will be at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford on Monday, August 2, 2021 beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Hartford Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Les Hughes officiating and under the direction of Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home. The GCHS Band will serve as honorary pallbearers.


Dianne Taylor Goodnight was born on July 21, 1946 in Geneva, Alabama to Acie and Esther Taylor. She attended Geneva High School and received her diploma from GCHS in 1965. She ran a home daycare for years in Hartford and babysat for many kids in this area. She also worked for years in the nursery at Maple Avenue Baptist Church and at Hartford Baptist Church. She was an active member of Hartford Baptist Church.


Ms. Goodnight also known as the “Band Lady” spent 40 years as a dedicated member of the GCHS Band Boosters and served as president for many years. She volunteered her time planning and being a part of all the band activities and performances. She knew and remembered every former “Band Kid” as she called them. She also served on the Hartford Hometown Holiday Committee for over 20 years. She looked forward every year to planning the Hartford Christmas activities uptown and the Christmas parade. Many people will miss her phone calls she would make asking them to participate in it.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Acie and Esther Taylor, daughter Denise Crosby, and brother, Danny Taylor.


Survivors include two sons, Kevin Goodnight of Florida and Dennis Goodnight of Hartford; daughter, Veronica Taylor of Hartford; one granddaughter, Ashlen Exum; along with several cousins, other extended family, and many friends.


The family would like to thank everyone from Kindred Home Health and Kindred Hospice who cared for Dianne during her time of need.
