Reverend Donald Richard Glenn, known fondly to most as “Brother Rick”, age 71, died Thursday, May 4, 2023.


Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donald Irwin and Reverend Hosea Parker officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Sunday prior to service time.


Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Maplesville, Alabama, (850 County Road 36) with Reverend Danny Rasberry officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing.

Rick was born August 9, 1951, in Clanton, Alabama to Sara and Virgil Glenn. He was a graduate of Isabella High School, Samford University, and the New Orleans Baptist Seminary. He married Virginia Hayes on June 19, 1970, right out of high school. They would have celebrated 53 years of marriage in June of 2023.


Rick Glenn was a loving Pastor, Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend. He spent his entire adult life serving the Lord, having served at Corinth Baptist, Highland Baptist, and Ebenezer Baptist in Chilton County, Alabama and Grandview Baptist, Memphis Baptist (Assoc. Pastor) and Antioch Baptist in the Dothan area.


In addition to his parents, Sara and Virgil Glenn, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Bill Hayes, a sister, Judy Calfee, and brothers, Kenny Glenn and Barry Glenn.


He leaves behind his wife, Virginia Glenn (known as Ginny) of Taylor; a son, Gary Glenn and his wife, Christa Glenn of Taylor; a daughter, Marsha Roesener, and her husband, August Roesener of Huntsville; and three grandchildren, Adam Glenn, Austin Roesener, and Mia Roesener; two brothers, Johnnie Glenn (Carolyn) of Bessemer and Cecil Glenn of Maplesville; two sisters, Brenda Foshee (Jack) of Jacksonville, Florida and Sheila Bryant (Cliff) of Maplesville; several nieces and nephews also survive.


Pallbearers will be: Gary Glenn, August Roesener, Adam Glenn, Austin Roesener, Jimmy Hill and Cecil Glenn.
