Donald C. Martin, age 80, of Enterprise, AL went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 17, 2012, while at home with his family. He was 80.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 20, 2012 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise with Chaplain Chris Adams and Glenda Carlson presiding. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 19, 2012.

 

Donald was born February 15, 1932 in Smut Eye, Alabama to Cecil and Tommie Martin. He worked as a civil servant for 29 years and served in the Alabama National Guard for 34 years. He was a devoted Christian, husband and father.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Billie and his mother-in-law, Helen Spence.

 

 He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elise Martin; two children, J. R. Meredith, Lester Meredith (Amy), his granddaughter Mandy Overton (Wes), his aunt, Obie Ruth Hutto, his uncle, Robert Hutto, three sisters-in-law, Martha Cochran (Paul), Mary Davis (Eugene), Diane McClung (Johnnie), four brothers-in-law, Jimmy Norton (Carol), David Norton (Joyce), J.B. Norton and Ralph Norton (Sheryl) and several nieces and nephew, and cousins.

 

The family would like to give special thanks to Gentiva Hospice staff, Tamara Upshaw, Wanda Pichren and Sheila Clark.
