Donald Earl Thweatt, 75, a resident of Cottonwood, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, August 3, 2023, at his home.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Glover Funeral Home with Brother Stephen Peacock officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 2:00-2:45 p.m., prior to the service.


Flowers will be accepted.


Donald was born June 19, 1948, in Geneva County, Alabama, to the late Andrew J. & Louveal Smith Thweatt. He spent the early years of his life in Esto and was a graduate of Holmes County High School. Following school, Donald worked for Sears, and in management for Southeastern Oil and McPherson Oil. He was of Baptist faith and a member of Eastside Freewill Baptist Church.


He is preceded by his parents; Nancy Jean Thweatt, wife of 36 years; a sister, Mary Alice Skipper.


He is survived by his son, Bobby Gene Thweatt (Sherry); his daughter, Debbie Lewis (Tommy); three grandchildren, Jeremy Lewis, Jason Thweatt (Tiffany), and Danielle Deal; one great-grandchild, Winry Thweatt; a brother, Carl Thweatt; a sister, Sylvia Thweatt; and several nieces and nephews.
