Donald J. Burkhalter, a resident of Gordon, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020. He was 73.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Burkhalter was born April 24, 1947 in Bainbridge, Georgia and lived most of his life in Georgia. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Burkhalter worked at Bainbridge Mills for several years and later was employed as a truck driver for many years prior to his retirement. He loved NASCAR racing and football, especially the Georgia Bulldogs! He enjoyed dancing and karaoke. Mr. Burkhalter was a member of Mt. Gilead Church in Ft. Gaines, Georgia.

He is predeceased by a special friend, Mattie Ree Blalock.

He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Jones (Robert) of Gordon and Kelly Presley (Michael) of Camp Lejeune, NC; four grandchildren, Alex Williams, Olivia Williams, Nicholas Presley and Maggie Clair Presley; a special canine companion, Darla.
