Donald Ray Purvis of New Brockton, AL passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. He was 70 years old.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Snell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Donnie was born in Chilton County, AL on June 26, 1953, to the late Mildon Herbert and Wava Patricia Cordle Purvis. Donnie retired as a truck driver after many dedicated years. He was affectionately known throughout the trucking industry by his CB handle, “Thundercloud”. Donnie enjoyed life to the fullest and loved being around people. He attended Holloway Tabernacle Assembly of God.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Darryl Purvis.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sheila Mock Purvis of New Brockton, AL; two daughters, Shawna Rodriguez (Eric) of Nashville, TN, and MaDonna Medley (Trey) of Ft. Novosel, AL; five grandchildren, David Rodriguez, Isac Rodriguez, Olivia Rodriguez all of Texas, Blaze Medley, and Josiah Medley both of Ft. Novosel, AL; one sister, Pat Adkison (Paul) of Enterprise, AL; one brother, Dwaine Purvis (Renee) of Missouri; two special nieces, Chelsea Adkison (Tim) and Shelby Mote (Justin) all of Enterprise, AL; special nephew, Derrick Purvis (Erica) of Bonifay, FL; and many special great nieces and nephews.
