DONALD  ROGER  WOOD

ABBEVILLE. . .Donald Roger Wood, a resident of Shorterville, died Monday morning, November 28, 2011, at his home. He was 75.

           

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in the Shorterville Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Shorterville Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P. M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.

           

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Shorterville Baptist Church, c/o Rossie Money, 2457 County Road 91, Abbeville, AL. 36310.

           

Mr. Wood was a lifelong resident of Shorterville, son of the late Myer Lobe Wood and Donnie Woolf (Judy) Wood. He served his country in the U. S. Army after the Korean War. Mr. Wood was a member of the Shorterville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a retired employee of Kellwood Company of Cuthbert, GA where he was employed as a Supervisor. Mr. Wood was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bobby Woods, four sisters, Linda Daniels, Mary Eliza Wood, Melissa Jane Wood and Martha Elizabeth Wood and three brothers, Jimmy Earl Wood, Gene Wood and Edward Wood.

           

Surviving relatives include his wife, Faye Hutto Wood, Shorterville; a daughter, Tereasa Woods, Shorterville; a son, Donald Glenn Wood and wife, Carole, Dothan; two sisters, Sue Roberts, Abbeville; Betty McFay, Blakely, GA; three grandchildren, Chris Woods and wife, Shana; Kelli Jackson and husband, Mark; Jeremiah Wood and wife, Courtney; five great-grandchildren, Adam Jackson, Christian Woods, Reagan Woods, J. D. Wood and Ben Jackson;  sisters in law, Barbara Wood, Abbeville; Elaine Dansby and husband, Bobby Earl, Shorterville; a brother in law, Robert Hutto and wife, Evelyn, Abbeville; numerous nieces and nephews.
