Columbia….Donna Jo Cooper, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, August 28, 2019, at her home. She was 70.


            Memorial Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 1, 2019, in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home & Crematory, with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating and a eulogy given by Trey Hicks. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. before the service on Sunday.


In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made in honor of Donna Jo Cooper to your favorite charity.


Mrs. Cooper was born in Columbia, Alabama and lived her entire lifetime there. She recently was a librarian, but was formerly employed with the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant in the documentation department and also as a receptionist at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Emergency Room. Mrs. Cooper was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her father, John Hansford Hicks, and also a brother, Buddy Hicks.


Surviving family members are her husband, Ricky Cooper; a daughter, Tracy Cooper Shadell (Wayne), of Headland; her mother, Mellie Deal Hicks, Extendicare Health Center in Dothan; granddaughters, Hayden Shadell, Katie Shadell, and Aubrey Shadell, all of Headland; a sister, Diane Hicks Lingo, of Columbia; a brother, Jimmy Hicks (Vaudell) of Columbia; a host of nieces and nephews.
