DONNA KAY GILBERT

HEADLAND.…Donna Kay Gilbert, a resident of Headland, passed away Tuesday morning, January 07, 2020, at her home, after a courageous fight with kidney failure and cancer. She was 54.

             In staying with Donna’s wishes, the family has selected a simple cremation. A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.

            Mrs. Gilbert was born in Dothan to the late James P. Bogert and Jane Elaine Finney Bogert and lived there until moving to Headland over thirty-two years ago. Donna worked at Parisian’s and later owned and operated The Newville Café for 8 years. Most recently she worked at Great Southern Wood Preserving in the accounting department.

            Leaving to cherish her memories is her husband, Bruce A. Gilbert; a son, Daniel A. Gilbert (Courtney G.) of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren, Axel Gilbert and Olivia Gilbert; her close friends Brenda Enfinger and Glenda Smith; & all the kids who called her Mama “D”.

            The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care and support given to Donna during this time, by Encompass Health Hospice,  especially to Mandy Odom, Charissa Daniels, Teressia McCree, and Ashley Willis.
