Dorothy Mae Powell Gibson of Westville, FL passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 in a Dothan Hospital. She was 85 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Emmitt “Chink” Huggins officiating and Brad Drake delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Ms. Gibson was born in Holmes County, FL on January 19, 1935 to the late Ira and Ima Baker Powell. Dorothy retired from Wiregrass Nursing Home after many years of dedicated service. She possessed a loving and giving spirit. She helped many people by distributing food to the homebound. Ms. Gibson was also very active in the political arena in Holmes County. She would show her support to the candidates by placing their signs in her yard. Ms. Gibson was a member of 1^st Pentecostal Church in Pensacola, where she taught Sunday School for many years.  

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Bud” Gibson; mom who raised her, Vivian Motley; and one sister, Elaine Lamarr Holmes.

She is survived by one brother, Ellis Cullifer (Marie) of Geneva, AL; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
