Ms. Dorothy Virginia Bass Cook, age 76, a resident of Dothan died early Friday August 10, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.  She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend to many.

 

Memorial services will be held 6:00 PM Friday August 17, 2012 in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steven McGinnis, nephew, officiating and Kendall Glover directing.

 

Ms. Cook was born on September 30, 1935 in Murforeesboro, TN.  She moved to Dothan in 1951 moving from Japan with her family.  Ms. Cook was retired as Deli Manager with the Main Street IGA (Food Depot) in Dothan following twenty years of service.  She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ashford and was a graduate of Wicksburg High School.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Vestal and Anna Belle Boyd Tarpley and husband, Burl Pat Bass.

 

Survivors include: daughter, Rondia Bass, Dothan; son, Gary Bass(Cheryll), Ozark; three sisters, Shirley McGinnis(Jerry), Wellington; Martha Knight(William), Saks; Dianne Tarpley(Byron), Ogden, UT.; grandchildren, Amanda Cromer(Michael), Dothan; Jennifer Paul(Jeremy), Dothan; Brandy Bass, Dothan; Stacy Woodall(Chris); Andy Williams(Ashley); Adam Williams(Katy); great-grandchildren; Tristan Raybon, Dothan; Shane Bass, Dothan; Hannah Bass, Bainbridge, GA.;  Addison Paul, Dothan; Robert, Adrian and Judy Beth Woodall; Abby Williams, Colin Williams; all of Ozark; special family member, Anthony Rase, Rehobeth; special friends, Gypsy Quattlebaum, Wicksburg; Kathy Bongino, Dothan; Pauline Wambles, Dothan; Nikki Burns, Dothan.

 

The family will be receiving friends from 5 p.m. until service time prior to services.   Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054-C McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL. 36111.
