Doug Brackin of Geneva, AL passed away Saturday, August 28,2021 at the age of 58.
A private family service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Friday, September 3,2021 with Rev Reggie McAllister officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Community Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 2,2021 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home chapel.
The family ask that flowers be omitted, and donations made to the Merle Wallace Purvis Center, Geneva, AL, in Doug’s memory.
Doug was born October 2,1962 in Geneva, AL to the late Charles Glen Brackin and Glenda Thompson Smartt. He was a graduate of Geneva High School class of 1981. Doug was an avid golfer, fisherman, fishing at the beach was one of his favorite places to fish, gardening, and dove hunting. He loved nature, making people laugh, music and very Patriotic. Doug loved his family and friends and always enjoyed making new friends. He was employed at Ft. Rucker as a contractor for 30 plus years.

Survived by his son: Ronan Glenn Brackin of Geneva, AL; his mother: Glenda Smartt of Panama City Beach, FL: two sisters: Lisa Brackin Wagner (Dewey) of Dacula, GA and Andi Brackin of Geneva, AL. one niece; Hagen Pollard of Dothan, AL., and stepdaughter; Augie Pena of Greenville, SC; mother of his son; Michelle Hunt; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Stough, Quintin Battles, Jeff Ward, Danny Hidle, Donald J. Fain, and Merritt Carothers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Watson, and Russell Simmons.
