Dr. Ken Chancey (74) of Enterprise, Alabama, died peacefully on October 1, 2021, in Tallahassee, Florida, joyfully entering his final rest, ready to meet his Savior, having been surrounded by all his children in his final days.

Chancey was the son of Wendell Curtis Chancey and Florence Warren Gunter. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jeanie Chancey Pridgen.

Chancey was a graduate of Marion Military Institute, the University of Alabama, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry.

He opened his dental practice in 1974 in Enterprise and continued treating patients for 43 years. He viewed his profession as a ministry, not a business, and provided thousands of patients with innovative solutions for sleep apnea as well as dental problems. He also travelled to East Africa to provide free treatment and training in one of the region’s largest slums.

After selling his practice, Dr. Chancey relocated to the Tallahassee area to work as the Senior Dentist at the Wakulla Annex Correctional Institution.

In addition to the field of medicine, Dr. Chancey was a gifted pianist, performing in various venues from country churches and nursing homes to concert halls. He also played the harmonica, accordion, clarinet, and saxophone.

He is survived by his sisters Ann Shaw (John), Barbara Kenney Warnes (Dan), children Matt (Jennie),
Jon (Rene’), Katie Pilcher (Tim), Josh (Abby), Caleb (Laura), 28 grandchildren (with one due in December), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation to be held at Searcy Funeral Home on Saturday, October 9th, 1pm, with a graveside service at Meadowlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Persecution Project Foundation (PersecutionProject.org)
