ASHFORD. . .Eddie Gerald Smith, a resident of Ashford, died early Monday morning, November 13, 2023, at his home. He was 85.

            There are no memorial or funeral services planned at this time. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

            Eddie Gerald Smith was a native of Webb, Alabama, son of the late Hezekiah Smith and Ina Morine Nowell Smith. He lived near Ashford most of his adult lifetime. Eddie Gerald was a graduate of Houston County High School in Columbia. He was retired as the owner and operator of Eddie Smith Ditching Service.

            Surviving relatives include his daughters, Ina Smith and Tammy Suggs, both of Ashford; a special friend, Nathan Worsham, Abbeville.
