HALEBURG. . .Eddie Lamar Chambers, Sr., a resident of Haleburg, died early Sunday morning, October 1, 2023, at his home. He was 79.

            Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 3, 2023, in the Shorterville Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Brewer and Pastor Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the church sanctuary.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36311.

            Eddie Chambers was a lifelong resident of Henry County, between Haleburg and Shorterville, son of the late John William Chambers and Lilla Mae Woolfe Chambers. He was a 1963 graduate of Abbeville High School and served his country in the Army Reserve in the Abbeville unit. Eddie was a member of the Camp Springs Baptist where he served as a Deacon. He was employed by SunSouth as Customer Service Salesperson. Eddie was preceded in death by an infant son, and another son, Timothy Ryan Chambers, a sister, Mary Beasley and two brothers, Thomas Chambers and Donnie Chambers.

           Surviving relatives include his wife, Cynthia Doswell Chambers, a daughter, Caytee Jones (Cameron), Ashford; two sons, Eddie Chambers, Jr. (Yvonne), and Tyler Chambers, all of Haleburg; sisters, Nadine Burley (John), Mesa, Arizona; and Glenda Faye Spradlin (Rick Bond), Griffin, Georgia; a brother, Billy Chambers (Sarah), Enterprise; grandchildren, Paxton Chambers (Connie), Justin Chambers, Ryan Chambers (Jamie), Allie Jones, Ava Jones and Alana Jones; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Dr. Perry Mobley, Eddie Chambers, Jr. and grandchildren.
