Edith Thompson of Seale passed away Monday morning, April 20, 2020 at Crowne Health Care of Eufaula, under the care of Covenant Hospice.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2pm Friday, April 24, 2020 in the chapel of Family First Funeral Care with Reverend Norman Garrison and Reverend Peter Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery in Headland. On Friday, April 24, 2020, the funeral home will open at 9am and be open all day for those wishing to stop and sign the register book, with the family arriving at 1pm to receive friends prior to service time. The service will also stream live on Facebook (Family First Funeral Care) beginning five minutes prior to service time.

Edith was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to the late Celestine and Damiana Santiago Ortiz. In life, she played many roles and earned an income as a clerical worker, legal secretary, insurance agent, real estate agent, business partner and business owner. However, regardless of her situation in life, Edith was a friend to everyone that would let her be a friend. She was a faithful wife and a loving mother. Even when Alzheimer’s affected her mind to the point that she could not remember her own name at times, she never forgot her children’s names and you could always see the sparkle in her eye at just the mention of their names.

She was the love of Bob’s life, as well as his best friend. However, more than anything else, Edith was a Bible-believing, born again Christian. She witnessed and worked for Jesus in her daily walk, through the songs she sang, as she co-pastored churches with her husband, as a Christian speaker and evangelist, her radio ministry, and the Spanish churches she pastored. Nothing in this life mattered, nor was more important than the Lord Jesus Christ. She would want everyone reading this today to know that God loves you and come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Edith is survived by her husband, Bobby Thompson; a daughter, Deborah C. Neff; two sons, David E. Thompson and Stephen Mark Thompson, and his wife, Auguste; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters in Christ.
