EDWARD  DURELL  LEWIS



COLUMBIA. . .Edward Durell Lewis, a resident of Columbia, died Wednesday night, May 23, 2018, at his home. He was 90.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 26, 2018, in the Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church, near Columbia, with Reverend Larry Dykes officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, near Midland City. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M Friday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Care, 1512 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.


            Mr. Lewis was born in Holmes County, Florida and was reared in Columbia where he lived all his life. He was a member of the Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Lewis retired as a carpenter and was formerly employed by Lawrence Farmer Construction Co., Shelby Skinner Construction Co. and Wayne Lewis Construction Co. He enjoyed building miniature churches, fishing, and staying busy. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Rad Lewis and his mother, Reba Mizell Mason Lewis, three sisters, Helen Ketcham, Louise Williams and Evelyn Powell and two brothers, R. B. Lewis and Ralph Lewis.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Louise Smith Lewis; two daughters, Mary Ann Phillips (Wayne), Graceville; and Barbara Hamm (Floyd), Columbia; two sons, Wayne Lewis (Brenda), and Bobby Lewis (Mary), all of Columbia; a sister, Ruby Nell Trawick, Columbia; nine grandchildren, Carolyn Stewart, Paula Blackwell (Robert), James Robert Williams, Melissa Sims, Ashley Lewis, Misty Lewis, Shelley Bunyard (Dan), Clay Hamm (Alisa), and Daphine Hamm; fifteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.
