Edward “Earl” Brannon of Slocomb, AL, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 . He was 77 years old.


Earl was born on December 20, 1946 in Hartford, AL, to the late Pillie and Isavelle Brannon.


He was a graduate of Geneva County High School, where he was an active member of the FFA.


He married his wife Bobbie Brannon in 1966 and together they built a happy life for 57 years. In 1967, he began his career as a firefighter in Ft. Rucker, Al. He served at the station for 24 years, and upon retirement, was acting Station Chief.


After retirement, he established and ran Earl Brannon Trucking Co. in Hartford, Al, for 26 years.


He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved very much.


He was preceded on death by his parents and siblings, Bobby Brannon and Paul Brannon.


A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Slocomb with Rev. Larry Newton officiating and under the direction of Shelby Lett of Bottoms Graden Chapel Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:00 p.m. at the church.


Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Brannon of Slocomb; children, Chuck Brannon (Lisa) of Slocomb and Amy Arnold (Derrick) of Slocomb; grandchildren, Brantley Arnold (Dillion) of Dothan, Emma Arnold of Slocomb, Hamilton Brannon of Birmingham, and Myles Brannon of Slocomb; siblings, Janice Peterson (Fred) of Slocomb, Martha Pattillo (Pat) of Dothan, Roger Brannon (Linda) of Dothan, and Mary Birdsong of Hartford; along with several nieces and nephews.
