EDWINA  HALL ETHERIDGE


 


ASHFORD. . .Edwina Hall Etheridge, a resident of Ashford, died early Monday morning, July 30, 2012, at her home. She was 71.



            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 1, 2012, in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Reverend David Bishop, Reverend Bill Cannon and Reverend John Maurey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland. The family will also receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the sanctuary of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.



            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3245 South County Road 81, Gordon, AL. 36343 or to the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center, 795 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, AL 36303.



            Mrs. Etheridge was born and reared in the Harmon School community of Houston County, daughter of the late Clyde Fletcher Hall and Irene Vickers Hall. She was a 1958 graduate of Ashford High School. Mrs. Etheridge lived in Houston County, near Ashford, since 1958. She was an active member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, near Gordon, where she formerly served as music director.  Mrs. Etheridge was instrumental in the founding of Ashford Academy and was active in school, church and community activities including W.I.F.E. (Women Involved in Farm Economics).  She was formerly employed by Alabama Electric, and in earlier years by Dothan Oil Mill in the Dothan office.  Mrs. Etheridge was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Hall Smith.



            Surviving relatives include her husband, Jimmy Etheridge, Ashford; two daughters, Melinda Etheridge Wilson and husband, Wayne D. (Cop) Wilson, Headland; Cynthia Etheridge Green and husband, Jeff Green, Wicksburg; a son, Steven Ray Etheridge, Ashford; a sister, Brenda Burch and husband, Kenneth Burch, Dothan; a brother, Danny Hall and wife, Jerlene, Tallassee, AL; a brother-in-law, Larry W. Smith, Grangerburg, AL; a sister-in-law, Virginia Etheridge, Ashford; eight grandchildren, Whitney McNair, Ashley Kelly, Shelby Green, Noah Green, Tiffany Wilson, Mandy Buchin, April Wilson and Brandon Wilson; a great-grandchild, Lucas McNair.



            Serving as active pallbearers will be Vance Foxworth, Mark Croom, David Kelly, Alex Smith, Ryan Burch and Glenn Pate. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be J. B. Beck, Joe Armstrong, Lawrence Mathis, Ronnie Jones and Elmer McAnulty.
