DOTHAN… Effie Combs Thompson, a resident of Dothan, died Friday afternoon, April 7, 2023, in Westside Terrace. She was 95.

            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 11, 2023, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan, with Pastor Mark Brackin and Chaplain Charles Goldsmith officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

            Mrs. Thompson was born in Widener, Arkansas, daughter of the late John Robert Combs and Effie Ryan Combs. She moved to Grimes in 1962. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Napier United Methodist Church. She was formerly employed by Bauman’s Jewelry in Dothan. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Thompson, a daughter, Debbie Renee Thompson, and three brothers, Edward Robert Combs, Charles Luther Combs, James Allen Combs.

            Surviving relatives include three sisters, Carolin Hood, Jeanie Wood and Sandra Browning; special friends, Mark and Connie Brackin and Dale and Gaylon Allen; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Roland Thompson.

            The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and the staff of Westside Terrace, especially Willow Way Hall, for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Thompson during her illness.
