Elizabeth Gayle Snell Taylor, 77, a resident of Ashford, walked through the Gates of Heaven Thursday night, December 5, 2019.


Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Union Hill Baptist Church (Cottonwood) with the Rev. Kyle Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday prior to service time.


Mrs. Taylor was born April 12, 1942 in Houston County to Guy Dell and Ruth Murphy Snell and lived all of her life in Houston County. She was a 1960 graduate of Rehobeth High School and later that year was married to Mr. R.Q. Taylor. She drove the bus for the Cottonwood Schools for over 25 years, a job she loved. After retirement, Mrs. Taylor worked at the Cottonwood Senior Center and volunteered with “Meals on Wheels”.


Mrs. Taylor enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking. She also loved traveling with her sisters and the “40’s Club”. She was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church.


She is predeceased by her parents; a sister, Jeanette Knight; a brother, Gerald Snell; two grandchildren; Lacey Roland and her twin sister, Courtney Roland and a special pet, “Doty”.


She is survived by her husband of 59 years, R. Q. Taylor of Ashford; four children, Sherri Taylor of Ashford, Monica Roland of Ashford, Ramona Taylor of Cottonwood and Scotty Taylor (Angie) of Ashford; three sisters, Doris Adkins, Peggy Baxley  (Jerome) and Gloria Stringer (Morris); two grandchildren, Suzanne Roland (Ashton Booker), Alison Watford (Kyle); two great-great grandchildren, Dylan Hatcher and Kylie Watford; several nieces and nephews also survive.


Active pallbearers will be: Brent Taylor, Gary Givens, Scotty Taylor, Danny Taylor, Ashton Booker and Kyle Watford.
