Ellen Marie Knowles of Samson passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019.  She was 73.  A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Cluster Springs Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Eddins officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Mrs. Knowles was born in Walton County, FL on September 13, 1945, to the late Carvel Almo Busbee and Ellen Teresa Catrett Busbee.  She enjoyed music and spending time with her beloved dog, Puddin’.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Darryl Busbee and Richard Busbee; and a sister, Helen Cox.

She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Willis Dwight Knowles; daughter, Tina Carter; six grandchildren, Wade Carter (Desire), Chad Carter (Beverly), Christin Carter,  Brad Carter (Whitney), Derek “Pee Wee” Carter (Ashley), and Eric “Rooster” Carter, all of Samson; fourteen great-grandchildren, brother, George Busbee of Charleston, SC; and sister, Sarah Grubbs of Talladega.
