ELLEN  RONEY  SCOTT

WEBB. . .Ellen Roney Scott, a resident of Webb, died Monday afternoon, February 10, 2014, in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. She was 90.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 13, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Hosea Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Dothan City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Old Webb Road Baptist Church, c/o Amy Odom, P.O. Box 118, Webb, AL  36376.

            Mrs. Scott was born and reared in Henry County, near Newville, daughter of the late Alto Lee Roney and Avie Ann Carpenter Roney. She lived in Dothan from 1951 until 1997 when she moved to Webb.  Mrs. Scott was a member of the Old Webb Road Baptist Church and the D.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary in Dothan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cary C. Scott, a son, Cary LaDon Scott, and a daughter, Dorothy Scott Tew, who died February 9, 2014.

            Surviving relatives include a son-in-law, Jerry Tew, Webb; a daughter-in-law, Reba Glover Scott, Dothan; four grandchildren, Drenea York (Ed), Alicia Sims (Stan), Jason Scott, and Joseph Scott; seven great-grandchildren, Raye York, Robert York (Elysia), Alexis Sims, Ansley Sims, Justin Scott, Elyse Scott, and Eliyah Scott; a sister-in-law, Willie Pearl Carpenter, and a brother-in-law, Mark Scott; several nieces and nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Ansley Sims, Robert York, Justin Scott, Ray Odom, Steve Scott, and Stan Scott.
