Eugene “Gene” Albert Cooper, 66, of Headland, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Troy West officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday prior to service time. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the D.A.V., P O Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45250 or the Wiregrass Humane Society, P O Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.

Gene was born November 7, 1954, in Albany, New York to Albert F. and Nancy D.  Cooper. He moved to Enterprise at an early age and was a 1973 graduate of Enterprise High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a medevac pilot as well as a flight instructor prior to his retirement as Chief Warrant Officer. Following his retirement, he and his wife owned and operated the Opus Nostrum Theater in Headland.

Mr. Cooper is predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Janet Cooper of Headland; three children, Heather McKinney (Ronnie) of Montgomery, Nicole Cooper of Enterprise and Michael Cooper (Jessica) of South Dakota; three grandchildren, Megan Cooper, Emily Cooper and Caleb Cooper; two sisters, Diana Cooper Anderson of Enterprise and Lynn Omeara (Gary) of Level Plains.
