Eugene Harm Schatz

Eugene “Gene” Schatz age 81 of Dothan passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. 

Gene was born March 13, 1941 in DeWitt, Iowa to LaVern Schatz and Eleanor Frahm Schatz.  He served in the United States Army stationed in Korea.  After active-duty Mr. Schatz was in the National Guard and worked as a Civil Service employee for the Rock Island Arsenal working in Arkansas, California, New York, Illinois, South Korea and Germany.

He enjoyed coin collecting, cars especially mustangs and hunting.  He was known for always lending a helping hand to others. 

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Kathleen Nelson Schatz; son Daren Schatz (Lauren); daughter Dawn Schatz; sisters Elaine Schatz Spainhower, Karen Grover (Lee) and 5 grandchildren.
