Eugene Lewis Herman, Jr. of Samson, AL passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. He was 64 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Elbert Smith and Rev. Jesse Ward officiating. Burial will follow in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made in Gene’s memory to Camp Victory or New Prospect Baptist Church.

Mr. Herman was born in Lewisburg, PA on December 17, 1956. Gene enjoyed working on cars, reading, cooking and leading singing at his church, New Prospect Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Boadman; and his stepfather, Edward Boadman.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Herman of Samson, AL; two children, Philip Herman (Chasity), and Megan Stockinger (Douglas); two special step-children, Justin Bedsole (Mary), and Julie Bedsole; six grandchildren, Parker, Jameson, Olivia, Ayden, Madeleine, and Wren; four siblings, Vicky Young, Dennis Herman, Dave Herman, and Mae Willis; mother of his children, Leona Jensen; father and mother-in-law, Sammy and Laura Messer; sisters-in-law, Donna Brown (Mikey), Sherrie Holley (Mark); brother-in-law, Brian Messer (Amanda); and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
