Eunice Marie Gilmore Owens, a life-long resident of Cottonwood, passed away at Extendicare Health on Monday, January 17^th  of  2022. She was 95.

Glover Funeral Home will conduct a graveside service at the Cottonwood City Cemetery on Wednesday, January 19 at 1:00 PM with Dr. John W. Granger officiating.

Eunice was born November 28, 1926 in Cottonwood. She has been a member of the Cottonwood First Baptist Church since 1937 and was a 1945 graduate of Cottonwood High School. She worked in garment manufacturing at Cottonwood Industries and in retail sales in Dothan until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester B. Gilmore and Carrie Paulk Gilmore, a granddaughter, Amy Marie Owens, her sister and brother in law, Mary and Leonard Quesenberry, and their daughter Alicia.

She is survived by her two sons, Ronnie (JoAnne) and Rickey. Her grandchildren are Brooke Owens Rice (great-grandson Sawyer) of Cincinnati, and Brian Owens (Kim, and great grandchildren Sallie-Grace and Mack) of Auburn.

She became a resident of Extendicare in June of 2019 for her health and safety issues. The personnel there are to be commended for the care and compassion given during her days with them. With her strong faith and will, along with the staff’s help, she fought off and overcame every medical issue that nature threw at her.

She will be laid to rest beside her parents and her paternal grandparents, Sanford and Mary Buntin Gilmore. Due to current safety measures, no formal visitation is scheduled.
