HEADLAND. . .Evelyn Powell Pemberton, a resident of Headland, died Wednesday morning, August 15, 2018, at her home. She was 76.

  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, August 17, 2018, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Perry and Reverend Ricky Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the sanctuary of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Hebron Baptist Church, c/o Edwin Glover, 6952 State Highway 134 East, Columbia, AL 36319.

  Mrs. Pemberton was born in Wetumpka, Alabama and moved with her family to the Friendship Community, near Tallassee, as a teenager. She received an Associate’s Degree from Wallace College in Selma on a voice scholarship. Mrs. Pemberton served with her husband who pastored several Baptist churches in Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma. She also served as a Missionary through the International Mission Board in Mexico, retiring as a Career Missionary. Mrs. Pemberton was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, the W.M.U. and also served the Hebron Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Daniel Powell and Odessa Thompson Powell, a son, Russell Roy Pemberton and four brothers. Evelyn loved music and sang beautifully of her love for Jesus.

  Surviving relatives include her husband, Dr. Bob Pemberton; a daughter, Janet Pemberton Money (Shane); two sons, Randy Pemberton (Tina), and Joshua Pemberton (Keisha), all of Headland; sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Powell, Montgomery; and Barbara Pemberton, Birmingham; eight grandchildren, Leigh Watson (Tyrone), Samantha Garrett (Chipper), Kristen Money, Amy Seton (Brent), Aaron Pemberton, Austin Pemberton (Shawntea), Emily Pemberton and Tori Pemberton; and five great-grandchildren, Jack Watson, Gray Watson, Beau Watson, Camilla Garrett and Eli Seton.

  Serving as active pallbearers will be Aaron Pemberton, Austin Pemberton, Chuck Barker, Tim Powell, Jacob “Chipper” Garrett and Tyrone Watson.
