EVERLYN THORNTON KINARD

HEADLAND, AL… Sister Everlyn (Lil Bit) Thornton Kinard, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Friday evening, May 20, 2022, at the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. She was 71.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, in Headland, Alabama, with Pastor Alfonso Neal officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday evening at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. There will be a repass at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church following the graveside service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Kinard was born March 1, 1951, to the late Fred and Martha Thornton, in Henry County, Alabama. She was a 1969 graduate of Northside High School. She was also a 1974 graduate of Nassau Community College. She had previously lived in Westbury, New York for twenty years, before returning to Headland, Alabama over thirty years ago. She was retired from Southeast Alabama Medical Center as a clerical secretary. She was a member of the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Headland, Alabama.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Veverlyn and Catherine Thornton; and her brother, Robert Earl Thornton.

Leaving to cherish her memories are her husband, Allen Kinard; her daughters, Merissa A. Thornton and Crystal L. Murphy; her step-children, Tiffany and Calvin Kinard; her sisters, Freddie Mae Reeves, Rosie Mae (Harvey) Reeves, Sarah Ann Copelin, Martha Jewel Flemings, Louise Williams, and Ola Hammock; her brother, Jimmie Thornton; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Thornton; her special friends, Emma Murphy, Lolita Whitfield, and Joyce Jackson; and a host nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
