Fannie Joyce Wilber

Fannie Joyce Wilber, known affectionately to all as Joyce, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024, in Dothan, AL, at the age of 81. Born on September 23, 1942, Joyce was a beacon of love and selflessness, touching the lives of many with her generous spirit and warm heart.

Joyce's early years were spent in the nurturing care of her parents, the late James Clarence Whitten and Bertha Whitten. She grew up alongside siblings who would become her lifelong friends and confidants. Though she is preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Wallace; sisters, Annie Pearl Brackins, Sallie Mae Brackins, Dolee Brackins, and Linda Fuqua, and her brother, Bobby Whitten, as well as her cherished nieces, Martha Sue McCollough and Tammy Davis, her great niece, Cheyanna Edmonson, and her special friends, James Anglin and Catie West, Joyce's legacy of love continues through her surviving family. Her sisters, Belle Legette and Luedell Edmondson (Tom), her granddaughters, Amanda Booth and Jessica Booth, grandson, Bobby Ray Wallace, and great-grandson, Elijah Wilber, great granddaughter, MaKynzie Williams, will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Joyce also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Joyce's work ethic was as strong as her character. She spent 15 years serving others as a dedicated waitress, a role in which she not only provided meals but also companionship and a listening ear to her many regular customers. Her commitment to her community was further demonstrated through her 14 years of volunteer service with Wicksburg Fire and Rescue, where she was a valued team member. Joyce also contributed her talents to Southeastern Oil Company and proudly owned and operated a service station, where her hard work and entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly.

Beyond her professional and volunteer endeavors, Joyce was a vibrant member of the Daleville Senior Center, where she enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of bingo, bowling, and card games. Her love for travel and adventure was fulfilled on numerous cruises, a favorite pastime that allowed her to explore new horizons and create lasting memories. Joyce's passion for life was perhaps most evident in her love for bringing her family together for gatherings, where laughter and stories were shared. She also cherished seeing Jeff Golden, whose performances brought her immense joy.

Those who knew Joyce would describe her as the epitome of loving and selfless. Her kindness extended beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of friends and strangers alike. Joyce's ability to make each person she met feel special and valued will be a cherished memory for all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
