Mrs. Flora Virginia Thompson of Geneva, AL passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.  She was 78 years old.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 03, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Vickers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mrs.  Thompson was born on February 16, 1941 to the late Nole and Bonnie Mae Austin Dowling. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who believed in hard work. She was a successful farmer all of her life, having won “Lady Farmer of the Year” award, multiple times. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and singing gospel music. She was an accomplished cook, especially when it came to her famous coconut cake.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Louise Dean, Voncille Wilson, Herman Dowling, Willie Frank Dowling, Lloyd Dowling and Annie Lois Bragg; one sister-in-law, Abbie Watson.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clyde Thompson of Geneva; two sons, Tommy Thompson, Tony Thompson (Sherri Hand) all of Geneva; one daughter, April Smith (Trey) of Geneva; three grandchildren, Trevor, Sydney and Trent Smith all of Geneva, one brother, Charlie Dowling (Virginia) of New Brockton; 10 sister’s and brother’s-in-law, Mary Lou Smith, Lula Miller, Bennie Thompson, Gearldine Sellers, Don Thompson, Sue Cullifer, Ann Smith, Curtis Thompson, Sally Thompson, and Junior Thompson; and a number of special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to DaySpring Hospice, Donna Hendrix, her nurse Susan, and Dr. Justin Hovey.
