MIDLAND CITY. . .Foy Toney Godwin, a resident of Ozark, formerly of Midland City, passed Monday afternoon, July 18, 2022, in an Enterprise hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 75.

Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date.

Toney Godwin was born in Wicksburg and was raised in Midland City, son of the late Hubert Douglas Godwin and Cecil Kelly Godwin. He was a 1964 graduate of Dale County High School and attended Auburn University. Toney served his country in the   U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era. He worked in the HVAC industry after  leaving the Air Force until his retirement in 2014. Toney was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman, and loved boiled peanuts with a passion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Brown, two brothers, Roy Roney Godwin and John Douglas Godwin.

Surviving relatives include four daughters, Toni Sells (Tonya), Seattle, WA; Nichole Lusher (Brian), Ariton; Jennifer Godwin (Bob), Tucson, AZ; and Melinda Godwin (Josh), Southport, FL; a son, Wesley Godwin (Sierra), Dothan; a sister, Inez Tharpe, Dothan; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and the mother of his children, Joyce Godwin, Dothan.
