Frances Belflower, 77, a resident of Headland, passed away May 30, 2012 at a local hospital following a brief illness.


Funeral services will be held 4 pm Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jennifer Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow on Monday in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 pm until 4 pm.


Mrs. Belflower was born March 9, 1935 in Early County, Georgia and lived the early part of her life in Hilton, Georgia and was a 1953 graduate of Hilton High School. She moved to Dothan in 1980 and was employed with Home Oil Company for several years and later with Wiregrass Couriers until her retirement in 2007. Frances was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening.


Survivors include her sons, Jessie (Carletta) Belflower of Dothan, and Robert "Bobby" Belflower of Headland; a daughter Elizabeth Belflower of Headland; 6 grandchildren, Harmony Ingle, Diana Belflower, Chloe Belflower, Alex Belflower, Frank Quattlebaum, and Denise Nieves; 5 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Ashton, James, Madalyn and Elisse; several nieces and nephews also survive.
