HEADLAND…Frances Bernell Blankenship Nowlin, a resident of Headland, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 11, 2021, at her home. She was 96 years old.


   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 14, 2021, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Joey Pettis and Pastor Larry Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in the Bertha Community. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:30 A.M. Friday in the mortuary chapel.


   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Nancy Gast 6349 North County Road 67, Skipperville, AL 36374.


   Mrs. Nowlin was born and reared in the Bertha Community of Dale County, daughter of the late Grady Blankenship and Minnie Belle Barefield Blankenship. She moved to Headland in 1958 and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Nowlin was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Nowlin, her granddaughter, five brothers and three sisters.


   Surviving relatives include two daughters, Bobbie Jo Folds (Bobby) and Janice Woodham, all of Dothan; a sister, Shirley Blankenship Davis, Wichita, KS; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.


   Serving as active pallbearers will be Hunter Woodham, Scott Woodham, Ronnie Woodham, Dustin Crutchfield, John Mick and Danny Blankenship.
